A man believed to be in his 60s was gunned down in broad daylight, and a woman injured by a stray bullet during a brazen shooting on Chelsea Avenue, New Germany, near Durban, yesterday afternoon.
Highway Mail reports that, according to Pinetown SAPS communication officer Jennifer Naidu, the victim was seated in his black Ford Ranger at around 13:30 when he was ambushed.
“It is alleged that the suspect approached the vehicle and fired several shots at the victim before fleeing the scene on foot and getting into a black sedan. The make and registration of the vehicle are unknown at this stage,” says Naidu.
The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
During the shooting, a woman who was at her workplace nearby was struck in the right thigh by a stray bullet. She was rushed to RK Khan Hospital for treatment.
Naidu says the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
