Identities revealed in East Rand murder-suicide
It is believed that a baby and pre-school child were strangled to death by their father.
The man who allegedly killed his two young children in Brakpan North, Gauteng, on Saturday evening and then took his own life has been identified as Johannes Jacobus Brandt (40).
The children have been identified as Ryan James Brandt (nine months old) and Ruan Desmond Brandt (4).
They were allegedly strangled and their father’s body was found hanging from a tree.
The family, including the children’s mother Nikita Venter, lived at The Love Ones of God, a non-profit organisation that provides accommodation to people in need.
Cases of murder and an inquest have been opened into the deaths of the two young children and their father.
