Police followed up on information about a person being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on a plot in Sterkfontein
The Krugersdorp Police recently followed up on a tip-off and arrested a 41-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, Krugersdorp News reports.
The man was arrested on 31 October and Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Captain Raymond Sebonyane, confirmed the man had appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
He explained that police followed up on information about a person being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on a plot in Sterkfontein.
“On arrival, a rifle with telescope was found and the man couldn’t show police any valid licence to be in possession of the firearm,” he said.
Although the man appeared in court on 2 November, the docket was not placed on the court roll as the investigation had to be completed first.
Colonel Truter, the acting Krugersdorp Police station commander applauded the police members for their swift response and also thanked the community for working hand in hand with the police.
They are appealing to the community to continue reporting those who commit crime by using the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, the My SAPS app or sending a SMS to 32211.
