JMPD arrests 2 in Naledi for hijacked department vehicle and human organs

A routine crime prevention patrol in Soweto led officers to a horrific discovery inside a residential garage and backyard.

Two men have been arrested after the JMPD Tactical Response Unit uncovered a hijacked government vehicle and discovered suspected human organs at a property in Naledi, Soweto.

Soweto Urban reports that according to the JMPD, the arrests were made on Thursday evening (July 9) after officers conducting routine crime prevention patrols received information about a vehicle being stripped at a property on Nape Street.

When officers arrived, they found the gate open and entered the yard. After noticing the front door was partially open and receiving no response after knocking, they entered the house, where they found a man.

The suspect told officers the vehicle they were looking for was in the garage and belonged to the homeowner.

A search of the garage led to the discovery of a white Volkswagen Caddy belonging to the National Department of Health. Police verification confirmed the vehicle had been reported hijacked and was already being stripped.

Officers continued searching the property and found a second man hiding in the backyard. Both suspects were arrested at the scene.

Soweto crime scene horror

During a further search of the yard, officers found two buckets containing what are believed to be human organs, identified as hearts and lungs.

The suspects were detained at Naledi Police Station and face charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of human organs.

The JMPD commended the officers for their vigilance and swift response.

Investigations are continuing as the police and the JMPD work to determine the origin of the suspected human organs and trace the homeowner.
