Kempton Park high school evacuated after bomb threat

Various police units were called to the scene in the Ekurhuleni municipal area to determine whether the incident was a hoax or not.

Learners and staff at Hoërskool Kempton Park were evacuated to the school field this morning, following a bomb threat at the school on the East Rand.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego earlier today confirmed to Kempton Express that police were on the scene to investigate.

“Various specialised units have been dispatched to the school. We are waiting for the bomb squad to confirm a threat or if this is a hoax.”

According to her, all the children and staff at the school have been marked as safe.

Several roads surrounding the school were closed and residents were urged to avoid the area while a search and investigation was conducted.
