KZN couple gunned down outside housing complex

A man and woman, believed to be husband and wife, died after being shot multiple times.

An investigation is underway after a couple was gunned down in the parking lot of a housing complex on Clayfield Drive in Phoenix, KZN, on Friday morning.

Residents from the complex contacted Reaction Unit South Africa’s (Rusa) Phoenix operations centre at 12:00, requesting assistance. Phoenix police officers were at the scene when they arrived.

“The body of a female was found in the passenger seat of a white Volkswagen Polo and a man, believed to be her husband, was located in a pathway approximately 20m away,” says Rusa spokesperson Prem Balram.

“They were shot multiple times and were pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a silver Volkswagen Jetta (registration unknown) fleeing the scene,” he adds.

The murders are being investigated.
