KZN game reserve strengthens security after incident involving guests

Tala Private Game Reserve confirms strengthened security and an ongoing investigation after a couple was confronted, allegedly inside their room.

Security concerns have been raised at Tala Private Game Reserve in Eston-Camperdown in KZN after a couple was attacked, allegedly inside their accommodation, last Tuesday.

According to The Witness, the couple, Louise (23) and Leanne (24) – not their real names – who both work abroad, were visiting South Africa to see family and had booked a short stay at the popular tourism destination to rest.

They reportedly woke up to find two men standing at the foot of their bed.

Reserve responds as investigation continues

A week after the incident, Tala Private Game Reserve issued a statement confirming it is working closely with authorities as investigations continue.

“Our thoughts are first and foremost with the individuals involved, and we extend our sincere concern and support to them and their families during this difficult time.

“The safety and well-being of every person on our reserve remains our highest priority,” the statement read.

The reserve said its onsite security and operational teams responded immediately and contained the incident, adding that there is no ongoing threat to guests, staff or the surrounding community.

Security measures strengthened

Tala said it has strengthened security measures and partnered with specialist security and private investigation teams to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The establishment also addressed social media speculation, calling for patience while the investigation continues.

“The reserve is working closely with the affected parties and the relevant authorities, who are conducting a full and thorough investigation,” the statement added.
