A man was killed after being hit by a train near Marianhill in KwaZulu-Natal.

KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS) media liaison officer, Robert Mckenzie said when paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the unidentified man had already died, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

“He was sadly declared dead. Police are investigating the incident further,” said Mckenzie.

The incident occurred between the Mariannhill and Klaarwater train stations on the weekend, added Mckenzie.

Earlier this month, a man died after allegedly riding on the roof of a train near the Isithundu Hill train station, in the Pinetown area of KwaZulu-Natal.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, died after he was electrocuted. Paramedics said the man was declared dead on the scene.

In January, one person died and two others were injured when a train collided with a car at a level crossing in Stellenbosch.

“According to first reports from the accident site, there were three occupants in the vehicle, one reportedly succumbed on the scene. The remaining two injured were taken to Stellenbosch Provincial Hospital,” said spokesperson Riana Scott.
