KZN man turns gun on himself after killing wife, daughter

Community members are traumatised after witnessing a murder-suicide in which two adults and a child lost their lives.

A Phoenix, KZN, father shot his wife and three-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself on Saturday.

Community leader and private security company owner Prem Balram says cases of gender-based violence (GBV) have increased drastically in the northern Durban areas.

He was reacting to Saturday’s murder-suicide in which a Phoenix father shot his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself.

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in Pipeclay just after 13:00.

KZN VIP Protection Services responded to the scene after reports of multiple gunshots and a woman screaming for help. Upon arrival, they were met with traumatised community members who witnessed the incident.
