KZN police nabs 23 881 suspects in one week operation

This was according to provincial police spokesperson, Major Thulani Zwane, Rising Sun Chatsworthreported.
Zwane added the arrested suspects have already appeared in various magistrates’ courts throughout the province.
Provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the officers for their good work, and said such operations would continue.
Last year, more than 70 suspects were arrested for various crimes, including murder and attempted murder, during a two-day operation by KwaZulu-Natal police in November.
The suspects had been arrested in connection with robberies, the theft of motor vehicles, possession of drugs and dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and other crimes in Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.
Zwane said during the operation, police recovered dagga, cocaine and ecstasy to the total value of R40 000, two 9mm pistols, computers, a TV, fridge and other stolen goods to the total value of R100 000.
