KZN tourism launches recovery plan ahead of summer
The KZN Tourism team hosted popular Cape Town media personalities in the hopes of extending their tourism reach to the west coast.
With a robust promotion campaign, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) is gearing up to welcome travellers to the Zulu Kingdom for a bumper summer season.
TKZN has partnered with Ugu South Coast Tourism to boost the tourism sector after a tough Covid-19 period.
Pinky Radebe, TKZN’s senior manager of public relations and communications, said, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, tourist numbers have dropped drastically when compared to previous years.

“Even though KZN is back as South Africa’s number one domestic tourism destination, our plan is to really position KZN as the only summer destination for the domestic market. Therefore, we are working closely with all tourism regions to showcase our tourism offerings to key influencers to get people excited to travel to KZN once again,” said Radebe.
With this in mind, Tourism KZN hosted several media personalities from Cape Town, including Ryle de Morny and Jamie Domberg from the SABC’s Expresso Morning Show, and Lunga Singama, Dylan Majavie and Kim-Lee Schuller, radio presenters from Heart FM in Cape Town.
Ugu South Coast’s tourism manager for trade relations, Vanessa Gounden said the south coast is a firm favourite among KZN and Gauteng-based holidaymakers.
“However, we do want to broaden our market and get more travellers from inland provinces as well as the Western Cape. So, this was a perfect collaboration for us,” said Gounden.
