KZN woman allegedly shot dead by a male passenger

The man allegedly fired several shots at the woman as the car was in motion before fleeing the scene on foot.

A woman was shot dead in Tongaat in KZN yesterday afternoon, allegedly by a man who was in the car with her.

Prem Balram, Reaction Unit South Africa’s spokesperson, said reaction officers were dispatched to the scene after several witnesses reported shots being fired at a grey VW Polo.

He said the woman suffered approximately six gunshot wounds to her body and one shot to her head.

She was declared dead at the scene.

“According to witnesses, a [man] passenger disembarked from the vehicle while it was in motion. The man drew a firearm and fired multiple shots at the [woman]. Her vehicle veered off the road and crashed into construction barriers. The suspect thereafter fled on foot.”

Balram said the motive for the murder has not been confirmed at this stage.
