KZN zebra poacher to be sentenced today

Poachers who cut through fencing and snare animals at a KZN nature reserve are having a detrimental effect on the local economy.

A poacher, who was caught red-handed with a shopping trolley filled with zebra carcasses at Bisley Nature Reserve in KZN in August last year, is due to be sentenced in court today.

Bombela Khowane, who allegedly evaded the law for four years, made a brief appearance in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He will appear in court for sentencing today.

Chairperson of the Friends of Bisley Nature Reserve Peter West says poaching is destroying the local economy.
