A horrific crash on the N11 in the early hours of this morning (April 25) sadly claimed four lives. In addition to the fatalities, many others were injured.

The incident took place about 25km outside of Ladysmith on the N11 near Pepworth.

The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this stage and will be investigated by the authorities.

The accident involved a Ford bakkie, a BMW and a VW Polo, which are believed to have been travelling in different directions.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and began treating the injured.

Those who had sustained injuries were stabilized at the scene and taken to hospital in Ladysith for further medical attention.

RTI and police are currently still on scene, busy with their investigation. Towing services are there as well.

Traffic flow in the area will be disrupted until the scene is cleared.
