Land invaders sent packing in KZN

A group of homeless people set up an informal settlement on an Isipingo resident's land, and Metro police dismantled the village.

The eThekwini Metro Police on Wednesday responded to a call-out from a property owner about people who had invaded his property in Isipingo, south of Durban, and built an informal settlement.

Metro police, along with the Department of Solid Waste, responded to the location on Alexander Road and they dismantled the illegal dwellings.

The eThekwini Municipality is currently enforcing Operation Clean My City which is aimed at enforcing by-laws.

“We urge our communities to work with us in keeping our city clean,” the municipality said in a statement.
