Load-reduction to hit four West Rand areas

Eskom has announced that load-reduction will affect the electricity supply to some of its Eskom direct users on Thursday night, 29 April.

Kagiso and Sinqobile are set to experience load-reduction during the evening peak period from 5pm to 10pm. The two other West Rand areas are Cosmo City and Zandspruit.

Eskom noted that, “To avoid overloading the Eskom network and damaging infrastructure in high-density areas prone to network overloading, Eskom will implement load-reduction during evening peak hours.

During the load-reduction implementation, customers are urged to switch off all of their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when supply returns. Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damage to household appliances. Please do not report this outage.”
