Load-shedding to be reduced on Sunday

Eskom has offered South Africans some relief after unexpectedly implementing Stage 4 load-shedding on Saturday.

Eskom announced this morning that load-shedding would be reduced to lower levels today.

According to the power utility, Stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented from 08:00 until 16:00. Thereafter, Stage 3 will be implemented until 22:00.

This comes after Stage 4 load-shedding was implemented on Saturday due to the loss of units at the Hendrina and Lethabo power stations.

“At the current burn rate, diesel supplies would be depleted ahead of new stock arriving on Monday. This would result in higher stages of loadshedding. The ship will be offloading through Tuesday. Eskom must therefore preserve the current diesel stocks,” Eskom said in a media statement on Saturday.
