Load-shedding update: Stage 4 during peak hours this week
Eskom says planned maintenance on the Cahora Bassa line has prevented electricity from being imported.
South Africans who want to watch the Springboks take on Scotland in the Rugby World Cup this afternoon will have to check their load-shedding schedules as stage 4 will kick in at 16:00.
Eskom announced that daily stage 4 power cuts during peak evening hours will be followed by stage 3 from 05:00 to 16:00 until Tuesday.
The power utility says the focus on planned maintenance, currently at 5 107MW, is one of the factors responsible for the current load-shedding stages. No power is currently being imported from Cahora Bassa, due to maintenance, but imports are expected to return to normal levels tomorrow.
Breakdowns currently amount to 16 646MW.
