Man (33) shot dead at Mamelodi tavern

Three men stormed a tavern in Mamelodi in Tshwane and shot the victim in the head twice.

Yet another person has recently been killed in a tavern as a 33-year-old man was shot and killed in Mamelodi, reportedly by three suspects in the early hours of Monday.

The three suspects were all armed with pistols and wearing balaclavas when they raided the full tavern at around 01:00, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

She said the suspects fired gunshots into the air and the crowd began to flee from the tavern.

“As the people were running out of the tavern, the suspects located the victim,” she said.

“They approached him, shot him twice in the head and fled the scene.”

Selepe said when police arrived, the victim was on the ground with two gunshot wounds to the head.

She added that the motive behind the shooting was unknown, but police investigations have been launched.

Selepe urged anyone with information relevant to the case to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
