Man allegedly fatally stabs stepfather in Alexandra

A young man accused of fatally stabbing his stepfather was arrested today and is expected to appear in court soon.

A 25‑year‑old man has been apprehended by the community and handed over to police, after he was recognised on social media, reports Alex News.

He is suspected of fatally stabbing his stepfather in the early hours of this morning on 12th Avenue.

Paramedics and police rushed to the scene following reports of the incident, however, the victim, believed to be in his early fifties, was tragically declared dead at the scene.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that a scuffle may have ensued between the two men, escalating into the fatal stabbing. The exact circumstances remain unclear.

The man fled shortly after the incident, prompting a community‑wide manhunt.

According to information shared in the Alexandra Patrollers Group, a female patroller confirmed that a man was caught in Silver Town after his images were widely circulated on social media.

Alexandra Community Policing Forum chairperson Sibabalo Mgijima confirmed that patrollers had spent considerable time following the suspect’s trail before finally catching up with him.

Mgijima said the man was then handed over to law enforcement officials for questioning and further investigations.

While speculation points to a heated dispute between the two men, the police have yet to establish the motive behind the fatal stabbing.

Gauteng SAPS confirmed that they have arrested one suspect after a man was stabbed and died on the scene today. The suspect will appear in court soon.
