Man burns shack after finding girlfriend in bed with lover

Two people died after a 46 year-old man set his girlfriend’s house on fire at La-Gatitute Farm in Letsitele, Limpopo during the early hours of Monday.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect visited his girlfriend’s house at around 1am and found her sleeping with another man, Letaba Heraldreported.

“He locked the room from outside, before setting it on fire, with the two people inside. Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition,” said Ngoepe said.

He identified the victims as Tsakani Ngobeni, 40, and Simeon Baloyi, 45. The suspect was arrested and is due to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrates’ Court on two charges of murder and arson.

Last week, a man died from burn wounds after he allegedly set a house alight during an apparentdomestic dispute in Centurion, Gauteng.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the man and a woman had a heated argument which led to the man locking the woman inside and pouring petrol over her before setting the house alight.

“The fire quickly spread to the neighbour’s house, as the structures were standing close together. A massive inferno engulfed both houses,” said Moloto.

One other person died in the fire while five others sustained serious injuries.
