Man dumped in George after hijacking
Police are urging the community of KwaNonqaba to remain vigilant after a motorist was hijacked in the area.
A 52-year-old man was the victim of a vehicle hijacking in KwaNonqaba on Saturday night, reports the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
According to the KwaNonqaba Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, the incident occurred on the corner of Crotz Street and Adriaans Avenue in KwaNonqaba, at about 21:00.
Four male suspects approached the vehicle and forced the victim into the back seat.
One of the suspects got into the driver’s seat and drove them off.
They reportedly left KwaNonqaba, stopping in multiple locations before arriving in Thembalethu, George.
The suspects left the victim and the vehicle there and fled the scene.
No other items were stolen, and the police later recovered the vehicle in Thembalethu.
There have been no arrests yet and the investigation is still ongoing.
Kapp says the hijacking of vehicles in the KwaNonqaba area is not very common.
According to the latest third-quarter national crime statistics, almost no vehicle hijackings have been reported to the KwaNonqaba Police.
He has urged the community to remain vigilant of their surroundings when driving, to gather as much information about the perpetrators should an incident occur, and to not resist their demands, as lives are more important than stolen assets.
