Man gunned down in a hail of bullets in Pinetown

Paramedics found a bullet-ridden SUV on the side of the highway when they arrived at a crime scene.

A man believed to be in his 50s has died after he was shot on Tracey Watts Road off the M13, in Pinetown, KZN, earlier today.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says paramedics were called to the scene of a drive-by shooting.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find a bullet-ridden SUV on the side of the highway.

“Paramedics assessed the driver, a male believed to be in his 50s, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body, and there was nothing the paramedics could do. He was declared deceased on scene,” says Jamieson.

He says it is alleged that a vehicle drove next to him and opened fire, however, this could not be confirmed.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer Jennifer Naidu confirmed the shooting and says a case of murder has been opened at the station.
