Man in court for alleged murder of pregnant girlfriend
A 19-year-old pregnant woman has been stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend after an argument in Nositha, near Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said Silungile Nxumalo, from Mvutshini, was stabbed by her boyfriend at their home in Nositha at about midnight on Monday, South Coast Herald reported.
An anonymous witness said the mother-to-be and her boyfriend had an argument. The boyfriend stabbed the woman and then fled the scene.
The woman was rushed to a nearby clinic, but she died on the way.
Mfeka added the boyfriend, 23, was arrested a few hours later and charged with murder.
The accused appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrates` Court today.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend and her one-year-old daughter to death in Lichtenburg, North West in January.
Samuel Ndlovu, 32, apparently accused the woman of having an affair.
