Man killed at Limpopo taxi rank: Cops seek murder suspect

A manhunt was launched after a 27-year-old male was found with fatal stab wounds to his chest and head.

The police in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, have launched a manhunt for the suspect involved in the murder of a 27-year-old man at the Zone F taxi rank on Saturday night.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says a team responded to a call about an unknown man who was found lying on the ground.

“When the police arrived at the scene, they found a male victim with severe injuries from a stabbing of the chest and the head. Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and the victim was pronounced dead on their arrival,” his statement reads.

Ledwaba says the motive behind the incident is unknown and that the deceased’s identify will be released in due course.

“We are appealing to the community at large to assist with information about this incident. Anyone with information can contact investigating officer Sergeant Millet Lotoaba on 072 576 0974, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPS app,” he adds.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed her ‘unequivocal condemnation’ of the incident. ”I urge the community to work together with the police by providing information regarding the suspects involved in this senseless killing,” she says.
