After he was shot, the man abandoned his car and walked to a nearby filling station for help.

A man died in hospital yesterday, days after he was shot and wounded while trying to find his wife who was kidnapped during a hijacking in Evaton last week.

The Sedibeng Ster reported that the man was shot multiple times in Zone 6, Extension 5 last week Wednesday. Evaton police have opened a murder docket since his passing yesterday.

An employee at TK’s Shell filling station recalled how the wounded man approached them for help in the early morning hours.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said the man was shot while driving in his Toyota Corolla, looking for his wife. He left the car behind at the Eastern Bypass Road and walked to the garage for assistance from where he was taken to hospital.

Msibi confirmed that the man’s wife was hijacked at a tavern in Evaton last Tuesday. The motive for the man’s shooting and his wife’s whereabouts remains unknown at this stage.
