Minor assaulted, another in George court
George detectives are investigating an altercation between two teenagers that resulted in one of them being severely beaten.
A young man (19) from George appeared in the George Magistrate’s Court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He allegedly attacked and severely beat up a minor (16) at a Wilderness petrol station shortly after 22:00 on June 29.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies confirmed the charge against the accused and said George detectives are investigating the matter.
According to unconfirmed information, the assault occurred due to an altercation between the two after which the victim, who may not be identified as he is a minor, sustained severe injuries and bruising to his head, upper body and face.
He was admitted to hospital shortly after the incident and is recovering at home.
The accused, Reghardt Stümke, made his first court appearance on July 30 when the case was postponed until September 16 for legal representation.
