A nine-year-old girl sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital after a crash involving a minibus taxi and a light motor vehicle in the east of Pretoria on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened on Cliff Avenue in Waterkloof and left 14 other people injured.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said the nine-year-old was treated and stabilised on the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to a specialist facility for medical care.

He said two adults and a 12-year-old girl with serious injuries were found in the light motor vehicle.

Meanwhile, 10 other taxi commuters sustained minor injuries.

“They were all treated and taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care,” van Reenen said.

“On arrival, an on-scene triage area was established by incident commanders, and additional resources were called to the scene by the Emer-G-Med Emergency Operations Centre.”
