Miss SA’s homecoming to be celebrated with street parade in Polokwane
The street parade in Polokwane is one of several activities which will be hosted by the provincial government during Miss South Africa 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida's homecoming celebration.
The newly crowned Miss South Africa 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida is coming home and in celebration, the Limpopo provincial government will host a series of homecoming activities in the province from Thursday, 12 November through to Saturday, 14 November.
The 24-year-old, who hails from Ha-Masia in Limpopo, was crowned on 24 October and has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pretoria. She is currently doing her BA Honours in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand.
“It took an entire village to get me here and I would like to thank all of you for being my village. I stand here today as your Miss South Africa with immense pride and joy to be representing such a beautiful nation – one of the first Venda women, but certainly not the last – to become Miss South Africa. I stand here as an advocate for educational and economic empowerment of women and children and mental health awareness – honoured to be an ambassador of this beautiful nation,” Musida said during her acceptance speech after she was crowned Miss South Africa 2020.

Starting on Thursday, 12 November Shudufhadzo will attend a breakfast session at Meropa Casino and Entertainment Center. The session will be attended by Premier Chupu Mathabatha, accompanied by MECs and mayors of both the Capricorn and Vhembe districts.
The breakfast will be followed by street parade in and around the central business district (CBD) of Polokwane. The parade will start at 11:00 and affected streets include: Landdros Maré, Church, Market and Hans Van Rensburg streets.
“There will be no road closures,” says Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality.
On Friday, 13 November, the beauty queen will visit the Vhembe district. During her stay, she will pay a courtesy visit to the Vhembe District Municipality, Dzanani Musanda, Makhado Local Municipality and the royal palace, where she will be accompanied by the executive mayor and all the district’s local mayors. Thereafter she will visit with the children at Takalani Children’s Home, Malamulele Nsovo Special School and Fulufhelo Special School. Dinner will be hosted at 2 Ten Hotel in Sibasa outside Thohoyandou.
On Saturday, 14 November Shudufhadzo will visit her home village, Ha-Vhangani, were she is expected to be received by her family, relatives, friends and the entire community.
During her reign Shudufhadzo plans to bring more awareness to mental health and bring about educational empowerment, especially in rural and disadvantaged areas. She also wants to continue the fight against food insecurity in rural communities.
