Missing Centurion mother arrested

Kaylan Mae Niven, the Centurion mother who has been on the run with her boyfriend Roman Rutkowski and her son Levi Thor Grover, has been arrested.

Lieutenant-Colonel Hennie de Jager confirmed Niven and Rutkowski were both arrested on Monday afternoon at a house in Pretoria, Rekord Centurion reported.

“We received a tip-off from informants they were in a house in the Moot area. When we arrived, Levi had been playing outside, and Niven and Rutkowski were inside the house. He seemed okay. When we found him, he was very dirty from playing in the mud,” De Jager said.

He added both will now appear in courts in Gauteng, including Ekurhuleni and Pretoria, on several charges, including fraud.

Niven and Rutkowski failed to return Levi to his father after a weekend visit and have been on the run since October 3 last year.

Both have been accused of running several property scams around Pretoria and Centurion. In some cases, they would allegedly place a false online advertisement on prominent internet sites, selling or renting out property. The moment a deposit was paid into the account number given, the money was withdrawn, and they would vanish.

Levi’s family is grateful for his return. “We are absolutely elated that Levi is back. His father and Neville have been playing non-stop since he came back. It has been a long road, but we are glad he is with us again. Levi will go to a therapist for assessment,” said Levi’s grandmother, Charmaine Grover.

She added: “This would not have been possible if not for the incredible hard work of the Hi5 Kids Recovery Unit and Lieutenant-Colonel Hennie de Jager. He kept us up to date every day on what was happening. We owe them much.”
