Missing Pretoria teen found with man

A missing Centurion teenager was found in Vanderbijlpark in the company of a man who has since been arrested.

Jane de Bruyn, 16, disappeared on April 9 at about 6.30 in Lyttelton Manor, in Centurion and residents, along with her family, began a frantic search for her, Rekord Centurion said.

Lyttelton police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said De Bruyn was found in the company of a 20-year-old man on Thursday.

“The girl’s father suspected that she was with him and had opened a case of theft against him. He thus became a wanted suspect, and a lookout was issued for him,” said Gumbu.

“Luckily, someone in Vanderbijlpark was sharp enough to recognise him and phoned the police. When the police arrived they found them together. He has since been arrested.”

Gumbu added De Bruyn’s family was relieved she was safely back home.

Earlier this month, the family of a woman who went missing last month in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal reportedly hired a private investigator.

“We have a private investigator on the case, and there has been no success in tracing her cellphone. Her car, a Kia Picanto with registration number ND 637-359, has been reported as stolen,” said her employer, South Coast Sun reported.

Lorraine Bothma, 43, was last seen leaving Ollies Restaurant on Sunday, March 29 at about 8.30pm. A missing person case has been opened at Amanzimtoti Police Station.
