N3 to Mooi River and other roads remain closed
Keep off the roads, as violence could erupt at any time
The N3 going towards Mooi River remains closed due to the protests.
Motorists are advised to stay off the N3.
Roads leading to Steadville, Pieters, Ezakheni and Roosboom are blocked with huge rocks scattered all over the roadway.
The road between Harrismith and Cedara also remains closed and will only be re-opened upon instruction by the Provincial Joint Operational Centre when it is deemed safe to do so, and once all clean-up and recovery operations have been completed.
However, the N3 road between Harrismith and Heidelberg has been reopened.
The N11 leading to Newcastle is open, but protesters could at any given moment close it with burning tyres.
It is advised to keep off the roads, as violence could erupt at any time.
Extensive damage has been caused to infrastructure, not only in Ladysmith but throughout the province of KwaZulu-Natal as a whole.
Residents should remain in their homes and stay safe.
