The emergency service provider has appealed to the public not to speculate about the cause of the accident while the investigation is ongoing.

Netcare 911 says one of their ambulance drivers suffered a medical emergency, resulting in a crash on Paardekraal Drive, Krugersdorp, where a pedestrian was killed.

The accident happened on Saturday evening around 19:00. The ambulance crashed into a car wash adjacent to Key West Shopping Centre. Members of the public speculated that the driver was inebriated.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn that a pedestrian was fatally injured,” says Shalen Ramduth, Operations Director of Netcare 911.

“On behalf of all of us at Netcare 911 and Netcare, we extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We also pray for the recovery of our colleague who was injured in the accident.
