The 39-year-old Kensington father was allegedly gunned down at the corner of Abroath and Concorde roads last week. He had four bullet wounds, and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics, Bedfordview Edenvale News reported.

According to Bedfordview police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the victim, a Jordan national, ran a tobacco company in Menlyn, Pretoria. He was found dead, facing up with a firearm in his right hand.

“While checking the scene, officers also found 15 spent cartridges, a damaged phone, an inside the waist holster, a driver’s license and a bank card,” said Nhlabathi.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the Bedfordview Police Station on 011-457-2299.

“Eyewitnesses, or anyone who may have information that will bring the killer(s) to book, are urged to come forward. The information will be dealt with in the strictest of confidentiality,” he said.

In March, A 48-year-old father was allegedly killed by hijackers, while his son survived the attack in Moorton, KwaZulu-Natal.

It is believed prior to the killing, the suspects had hijacked a gold Toyota Corolla vehicle in Montford.

Chatsworth police spokesperson Lieutenant Cheryl Pillay said the driver of a gold Toyota Corolla was allegedly accosted by two males, one of whom was armed, before robbing him of his vehicle.

“It is further alleged that the suspects experienced problems with the vehicle and stalled at the Road 901 traffic circle, where they hijacked a second vehicle. The suspects then got into a blue Toyota Corolla with the father and son occupants,” said Pillay.

“The son managed to escape, and the suspects drove off towards the Chatsworth SAPS Training Academy with the father still in the vehicle. The father was found with gunshot wounds on the road, which is approximately 500 metres from crime scene of the hijacking.”

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Investigations are ongoing.
