No arrests in Jayde Panayiotou murder case
Investigations following the murder of Uitenhage teacher Jayde Panayiotou are still continuing, as no arrests have yet been made.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Miranda Mills said detectives assigned to the investigation of the murder of Panayioutou are working around the clock to follow up all information and leads they have on the case.
“Persons of interests have been questioned since the day of the victim’s abduction, which is normal procedure during an investigation and the detectives will continue doing so until the perpetrators involved in her abduction and murder are arrested,” added Mills.
Panayiotou’s body was found in an isolated area in the KwaNobuhle township, outside Uitenhage last Monday. She went missing from her home in the Kabega Park area.
Police have released an identikit of one of the men believed to be involved in the murder of Panayiotou.
The man in the pictures taken from ATM cameras allegedly withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from Panayiotou’s account following her disappearance.
On Thursday, police said a preliminary police investigation showed Panayiotou may have been shot, and that a postmortem to determine the cause of death would be conducted before the end of the week.
Panayiotou, 28, was a Life Orientation teacher at Riebeek College Girls’ High School in Uitenhage.
