One killed, 48 injured in KZN bus crash
One person was killed and 48 others injured after a bus overturned near Hluhluwe in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday night, paramedics said.
Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said the bus came to rest on its roof down a small embankment, Zululand Observer reported.
“Paramedics arrived on scene to find that sadly one person had died, and 48 patients had sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical,” Mckenzie said.
The injured were treated on the scene before being transported to several hospitals in the area.
In another collision, two people died after two bakkies, one towing the other, collided with a truck on Tuesday morning.
“Two occupants from the bakkie being towed were fatally injured, while a third sustained minor injuries,” Mckenzie added.
The driver of the truck was said to be seriously injured and jaws of life had to be used to free him from the truck.
The patients were later transported to Nkonjeni hospital for continued care.
