Patient stabbed at Levai Mabatha clinic, south of Johannesburg

A patient that was admitted with stab wounds at the Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton was followed into the Clinic and stabbed by six men recently, Sedibeng Ster reports.
It is said that the man admitted in the casualty ward, he was later followed by six men who came in the ward while the patient was being treated and stabbed him three times, the security on duty managed to hide the patient who was later transferred to Sebokeng Hospital treated and discharged in a good condition.
The security and three staff members who were injured during the incident were treated for wounds and discharged.
Khosi Masie of Sedibeng District Municipality External Communications said that counselling for staff members was been arranged on-site and that the Gauteng Health MEC: Dr Bandile Masuku visited the staff members who that were injured at home.
“District management and Sedibeng District Municipality MMC Zaza Raikana had meetings with various stakeholders such as Ward Councilors, SAPS, Community members and the labour movement, to discuss the staff safety at the clinic.”
Masie said that security has been beefed up and that the clinic will only be operational from 7h00 to 16h00 until further safety matters are dealt with, which include but not limited to the panic button, armed response and CCTV cameras.
