Pietermaritzburg N3 tragedy: 2 dead, 30 injured in multiple vehicle accident

The cause of a serious accident involving two trucks and a fully loaded bus is being investigated.

A tragic multi-vehicle accident on the N3, Johannesburg-bound, at Market Road in Pietermaritzburg, left two people dead and at least 30 others injured.

According to The Witness, the accident, which involved two trucks and a fully loaded bus, happened last night.

Roland Robertson, spokesperson for Midlands EMS, says two people were killed, and around 30 to 40 other people were injured.

Robertson says the bus driver was entrapped in the vehicle and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics. Additionally, a truck driver also suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.

Firefighters were deployed to extinguish the blaze, while paramedics treated the injured on the scene before transporting them to hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, and authorities are investigating the accident.
