Police awaiting footage of Klara’s ‘suicide’
The investigation into the alleged suicide of Klara Göttert is still ongoing and police are awaiting CCTV footage from Northgate mall’s management.
Honeydew police spokesperson, Warrant officer Karen Jacobs said police held a lengthy meeting with Klara’s parents on Thursday morning and that the case was in fact being investigated as a suicide, Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported.
The investigation is not finalised as yet, but for now no foul play is suspected. Detectives were still in the process of taking statements and collecting evidence.
“We are awaiting footage from the mall, however, detectives who visited the scene and viewed the footage on the night said that the footage was very dark,” Jacobs added.
Klara’s body was found in the Northgate mall, where it is believed she had jumped from the top floor on Tuesday evening after reportedly going missing earlier that day.
Meanwhile, the mother of one of Klara closest friends has revealed that Klara apparently hinted at her planned ‘suicide’ on the day of the tragedy.
According to the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous until funeral proceedings are over, Klara was asked by two boys at school how she would feel if one of them asked her out. She said to the two boys it would be really amazing and would like it if he did ask her out.
But she then allegedly said said it was a pity she would not be on this earth for long and, a few seconds later, laughed it off.
Although there has been uncertainty over whether or not Klara’s death was a suicide, her mother, Liesl Göttert, has gone on to say it was. Göttert told a local radio station yesterday morning: “It was suicide.”
Klara’s funeral will be at 2pm this afternoon at the NG Gemeente, Aasvoëlkop in Northcliff.
