Police investigating Krugersdorp house fire deaths
Krugersdorp police are still waiting for postmortem results after a five-year-old child and a 17-month-old died in a house fire on Friday.
It is believed the children’s mother had locked them in the house before she left.
The fire is believed to have started in the living room. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Both children were reportedly treated for smoke inhalation at Yusuf Dadoo Hospital, where they later died. No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, Krugersdorp police spokesperson Constable Tshepiso Mashale told The Citizen police visited the family today and donated food and clothes.
“Funeral arrangements are under way, and both children would be buried on Thursday. Investigations are ongoing,” said Mashale.
