Police launch manhunt after 3 people die in Mpumalanga tavern shooting

Three armed men shot seven people during a robbery at the tavern, Three people died in the shooting.

The police launched a manhunt for three suspects, who shot seven people, killing three, in a tavern in Dundonald, about an hour from Ermelo, yesterday.

The suspects entered the tavern at about 04:00 with guns pointed at the patrons, wanting to rob them of their belongings.

The suspects also tried to get money from the bartender but failed.

Before they left the scene, they fired various shots randomly into the crowd ultimately killing three people.

Two died on the scene while a third victim died at the local clinic. Four people were taken to the hospital and two have been discharged.

“Cases of murder, attempted murder as well as business robbery were opened and the police are busy with the investigation,” Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, said.

Police urged anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the suspects to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP.

All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
