Police officer murdered in Soweto

He was with the serious and violent crime unit at the time of his death.

In what seems to be a targeted hit, a 49-year-old sergeant attached to the Gauteng serious and violent crime unit was murdered on March 12 when he was ambushed outside his house in Protea Glen.

In a statement, police say the officer returned home after fetching his daughter (16) and a neighbour from Park Station in Johannesburg.

As he parked in the neighbour’s driveway, a man sitting in a parked white sedan, started shooting at the trio. The police officer was killed instantly while his neighbour and daughter were injured in the process.

They were taken to hospital for treatment.

No one has been arrested yet.
