Police to take tough stance on armed criminals, says Cele
The police minister says SAPS members are under siege and officers will protect their lives and preserve the lives of innocent community members when the need arises.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says criminals are ‘ruthless’ and are terrorising communities with impunity.
Addressing the media yesterday, Cele said that over the past few days, the police have intercepted armed and dangerous gangs who have left a reign of terror and fear in their wake.
“There is no doubt that these criminals are ruthless and arrogant. Their actions demonstrate that they will eliminate anything and anyone that stands in their way.
“They have waged a war on communities and are so brazen, that they are testing the authority of the state by attacking police officers. It is on this score that police remain unapologetic in their aggressive and decisive response to crime,” said Cele.
