Power outlook: Less load-shedding scheduled for coming days
Eskom announced that load-shedding will be suspended during daytime hours for the next couple of days.
Eskom has made the latest load-shedding schedule available and it comes with some good news.
“Due to the return of some generating units to service since Friday and sufficient emergency reserves, load-shedding will remain suspended until 16:00 on Monday,” said Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena.
Stage 2 load-shedding is set to kick in on Monday at 16:00 until 05:00 on Tuesday. Thereafter, load-shedding will again be suspended until 16:00.
“The alternating pattern of suspending load-shedding from 05:00 until 16:00, and implementing stage 2 load-shedding from 16:00 until 05:00, will be repeated daily until further notice,” said Mokwena.
A further total of 2 200MW of generating capacity is anticipated to be returned to service by Wednesday. Eskom’s evening peak demand tonight is 24 849MW.
Mokwena said Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur.
