Pretoria police confiscate over R100 000 in crystal meth

Police confiscated crystal meth with an estimated value of over R100 000 over the weekend, Rekord East reports.
The operation was part of various drug-related arrests made in Pretoria, according to police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
“One man was arrested for dealing and being in possession of the meth,” Miller said.
“Police remain resolute in our commitment to fight the onslaught of drugs being distributed in our communities.”
“We will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to any person who thinks they can use or sell narcotics within the borders of South Africa.”
Police arrested over 300 persons in Pretoria for various other offences over the weekend.
“The majority of the arrests were made for liquor-related crimes, such as drinking in public, selling liquor without a valid permit or license and drunk driving,” Miller said.
“Operations focused on high visibility at the known crime hot spots, with a number of road blocks and vehicle check points conducted along all major routes.”
Miller said 24 illegal liquor outlets were closed and all liquor confiscated.
“Four illegal unlicensed firearms were also confiscated. Firearms will be sent to the forensic laboratory to establish what crimes they have been used for.”
Miller said over R134 200 in traffic infringements were issued for traffic offences.
“We would like to remind our communities to be alert at all times this festive season.”
“Be mindful of the other road users, take regular breaks when traveling long distances and ensure that the road worthiness of your vehicle is in order.”
Residents are urged to report any suspicious persons, vehicles (especially ones without number plates) to the police immediately by phoning the 10111 emergency number.
