Pretoria woman shot during robbery

A 28-year-old woman was shot and wounded on Wednesday evening when four men allegedly confronted her and her husband with a firearm in Pretoria.

The incident occurred while the couple waited for the gate of their residential complex to open,Rekord Moot reported.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Linda Jerling, said the woman and her husband arrived at their complex in Wonderboom South on Wednesday night when the armed men demanded money from them.

“While they were waiting for the remote gate to open, a vehicle parked behind them. The four armed robbers got out of the vehicle and took the woman’s handbag, car keys and a cellphone, and fled,” said Jerling.

The woman reportedly did not know she had been shot and only realised after inspecting the pain under her right arm. The woman was taken to hospital.

Cases of armed robbery and attempted murder were opened but no arrests have yet been made.

In October, a 52-year-old woman was shot multiple times and later died after a robbery at her home in Erasmia, Pretoria.
