Proteas Women to tour Australia

The team will embark an extensive tour that will see them playing a three-day one-day international.

The Proteas Women will play a historic test match during a multi-format tour of Australia from January 27 to February 18, next year.

The teams, who met in this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup final at Newlands, will go head-to-head in two three-match T20I and ODI series before a first four-day test between the nations.

The first two T20Is will be held at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on January 27 and 28, with the third at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on January 30. Both teams will use the series to prepare for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The ODI series carries additional significance as both sides seek to earn crucial points in the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship (2022–25), which forms part of the qualification pathway for the 2025 Women’s World Cup in India.

The first ODI will take place at the Adelaide Oval on February 3, with the second and third at the North Sydney Oval on February 7 and 10.

The tour will conclude with the historic Test at the WACA Ground in Perth from February 15-18. It will be the Proteas’ seventh test since readmission and the second in two years following the drawn match against England in 2022.
