The hunt is on for the murderers of Collins Chabane Local Municipal mayor, Moses Maluleke. Police have established a task team and is offering a R250 000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to an arrest and conviction of his murderers.

Maluleke (56) was gunned down at his home last Thursday evening.

Police say in a media statement that three armed men entered the mayor’s home at Shikundu village in the Saselamani area and demanded money.

The suspects then shot the mayor and his 18-year-old son and fled the scene. The mayor died instantly, while his son sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Limpopo provincial commissioner, Lieutenant Geneneral Thembi Hadebe, who visited the scene on the night of the shooting, assembled a task team to probe the incident. An intensive investigation is currently underway.
