Residents help apprehend driver of stolen vehicle in Pretoria
After the driver of a stolen car jumped from the vehicle, he was caught by two community members before the police arrived on the scene.

Two members of the community in Magalieskruin helped the local CPF apprehend the driver of a stolen vehicle at the weekend.
The arrest came after a resident reported via the Sinoville Sector 1 emergency number that their Toyota Prado had been stolen on Saturday evening.
The Sinoville CPF responded to the call and spotted the vehicle passing Moerbei Avenue in Wonderboom.
According to Sinoville CPF spokesperson, Lizette du Plooy, the Proshield response vehicle and police responded quickly to locate and stop the stolen vehicle.
“The driver jumped from the stolen vehicle and was apprehended by two members of the community before police arrived.
Partnerships and strong relationships built between the SAPS, SCPF, security companies and the community serve as a force multiplier in Sinoville.”
The SCPF said that the radio communication network serves to pool all available resources, to safeguard the Sinoville community.
Recently the CPF encouraged residents to make use of the two-way radio network to communicate in times of crisis and power outages.
It said that when cellphone towers go down during load-shedding, online communication systems that use data do not work.
Two-way radio works when other forms of communication do not and the CPF radio network is linked to SAPS and emergency services.
Residents are urged to attend a CPF fundraiser on May 6 to enable it to continue fighting crime in the community.
The CPF is looking at upgrading its crime-fighting infrastructure through the introduction of surveillance equipment and cannot do this without donations from businesses and residents alike.
“Every donation received gets us a step closer to achieving this,” she said.
