Robber injures genitals while jumping fence
An alleged robber suffered injuries to his genitals after he jumped a palisade fence trying to escape two dogs at The Reeds in Centurion.
It was earlier reported that a dog bit the suspected robber’s finger off. It has since transpired that it was the homeowner’s finger that was bitten when he attempted to restrain the dog from attacking the intruder.
Orange Fox security spokesperson Vanessa Jacobs said the man, 29, jumped over a palisade around 5am on Friday to gain entry to a house in The Reeds when he was saw the homeowner’s dogs, Rekord East reported.
“He tried to jump back over the fence but the dog got hold of his leg and attacked him causing extensive lacerations and a puncture wound to the man’s lower leg,” said Jacobs.
She said the homeowner managed to restrain and remove the dog, but the dog accidentally bit the owner’s finger.
“While the homeowner was busy with the one dog, the man then jumped over the fence but got caught in jagged edges of the fence and sustained further injuries to his private parts,” added Jacobs.
The suspect was treated on the scene and taken to hospital under police guard.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said the man was trying to flee with a laptop when he was trying to climb over the palisade fence, running away from the dogs.
Huma added a case of burglary was opened at Wierdabrug police station.
